Marcial was the most famous Harmost of the Institute's Preservation Forces. In those days there were constant hostilities between the Faceless armies and Preservation, mainly taking place in Deep Caverns. In the 42nd year of the Institute, this eventually culminated in the decisive Battle of Nucleus. After the victory of Harmost Marcial's forces the Faceless retreated, and conflicts between the two factions ceased for decades to follow. Marcial died in year 78, and was succeeded by his student Stavros.
