Rathound King Lair is a location in Lower Caves.

Description

It's the lair of the eponymous Rathound King. It is located directly south of Camp Hathor, and not even very far away. Only a few large rathound packs are between the camp and lair.

The rathound king is an expert trapper. You'll have to make your way through a dark, dense minefield and a labyrinth filled with mines and other traps in order to reach his throne room. High Perception/Detection or Traps skill is extremely helpful here.

Labyrinth (lower)

The stairs exit to the east leads to Lower Caves, area Caves 20, minefield
The northwest exit leads to area Rathound King Lair
Several ladders lead to different parts of area Labyrinth (upper)
Has multiple traps, which can be recovered with 90 Traps:
- 5 Frag Mine
- 3 Burrower Poison Bear Trap
- 1 Cave Ear Poison Bear Trap
- 3 HE Mine
- 3 Crawler Poison Bear Trap
- 3 Acid Blob Trap

Labyrinth (upper)

Several trap doors lead to different parts of area Labyrinth (upper)
Has multiple traps, which can be recovered with 90 Traps:
- 2 Frag Mine
- 1 Burrower Poison Bear Trap
- 2 Cave Ear Poison Bear Trap
- 1 Bear Trap
- 1 Acid Blob Trap
The central cave:
- Is a trap:
  - entering the area will make the destructible rocks collapse
  - The rocks hide several Rathounds and Rathound Alpha
  - The fence will lock behind you, and can be reopened with 3 Lockpicking (anyone can open it with the Lockpick Mk II found on the nearby dead man)
- Has a dead man carrying a Lockpick Mk II
- Has a dead man carrying a Bone Fetish oddity, 3 XP

Rathound King Lair

The eastern exit leads to area Labyrinth (lower)
Has several rathounds, including the Rathound King. See Kill the Rathound King about the different ways to deal with them
The Rathound King carries Jawbone, Rathound King's head, Rathound Regalia and Rathound King's Key
The locker can be opened with 70 Lockpicking or with Rathound King's Key
The footlocker requires can be opened with 75 Lockpicking or with Rathound King's Key. It contains a Sharpening Stone, three Crawler Poison Bolts and two Broadhead Bolts
Can be fished in this area: Blue Eel, Minihead, Anglerfish
