Core City is the metropolis of the South Underrail, the largest urban area in Underrail.

Description

Core City is a major city situated literally in the core of the Underrail network. It spans both levels of Underrail and serves as a gateway between Upper and Lower Underrail and also between the lawless south Underrail and United Station territories to the north. Core City is also called Hub or simply the Core by some denizens of Underrail. It is the largest city in South Underrail, only rivaled in size by Dis and Hexagon of North Underrail.

The Core is a place of extremes. On one hand we have the oligarch families and their associates who live lives of luxury (or at least what can be considered such in the world of Underrail) while on the other hand the slums are filled with the poor that perish daily from hunger, disease and gang fighting.

The masters of Core City know how to keep the masses complacent though. What started as place for gangs to settle their disputes has grown to become the most popular form of entertainment in the city and the whole of Underrail. We're talking about the Arena, the Roman style field of combat where they pit men against various deadly creatures as well as gladiator against gladiator. All for the viewing pleasure of the numerous Arena fans. Watching people die violently is the favorite pastime for the oppressed masses of Core City.

In the past, it used to be controlled by Biocorp's security forces, but they went rogue and split into smaller factions and fought each other for a couple of years on the streets of Core City. Today, Core City is controlled by oligarchy that arose from the split-up of Biocorp. Coretech continues Biocorp's research and development, while Praetorian Security are the remnants of old Biocorp's security forces. A third major faction in Core City is the JKK corporation.
